…i need somebody, not just anybody, you know i need someone…to tell me why my dog will not stop peeing in our house.  here is sparky sparky skewed  he is my adorable doggie, who i love sooooo much.  however, he marks anything and everything.  we take him to the dog park and he doesnt even notice the other dogs until he has sniffed and peed on every tree, plant, blade of grass, what have you.  this is all fine and good, we figure sparky is like us, we dont really talk to the other dog parents and he doesnt really talk to the other dogs.  so, here is the issue…we crated him in bloomington because he would mark our curtains and various other things – that worked wonderfully.  now, we have a doggy door and he knows how to use it, but at least once a week we find a place where he has peed on something.  now, this is not random peeing, he doesnt pee on the furniture, the cats’ food bowl, the cabinets, etc.  he pees on things like brooms, extension cords, things that are not normally in the space.  he also loves plastic, we have to make sure no plastic bags are ever on the ground and we have had to get rid of our rubber bottomed bath mats because he would pee on it constantly, even if we are in the next room.  this is very frustrating because we praise him, give him treats, etc. when he pees outside, we take him on walks, we cuddle…nick gets uber mad and i can understand – what do we do now?  we are moving into a new house, brand new, and peeing will not be allowed…we wont have a doggy door so he will have to be crated.  thats another worry, we will be gone for at least 8 hours every day and i feel bad about leaving him crated for that long, dont want him to develop any doggy bladder issues from holding it.  my idea was to crate him in the bathroom and train him to use puppy pads in the shower – that training isnt going so well…ill have to read up on that.  it seems mean to leave him crated that long – however, he loooooves his crate, like hardcore.  he is in it all the time, chillin with his stuffed animals and the sweatshirt that smells like me…

on a different note…we are headed to that festival now, i hope there’s food (i kinda have a one track mind) so ill be on later…leave some suggestions if you know anything about how to leave a dog home when you are at work that doesnt involve him roaming free – or how to stop him from marking stuff

Sparky! Stop peeing! Oh man, I don’t have any suggestions. :( I have a book–The Loved Dog by Tamar Geller–that I like, but it doesn’t have anything about piddle. Maybe Google it and see if you can find more info. Good luck!

Peanizzle sends Sparky her love, too.
